The Garrison Cemetery Annual meeting will be held on Monday evening, January 10, 2022, at 6:30 in the Garrison Public Library activity room. All shareholders are invited to attend.
Benton County Community Foundation 2022 Grant Application Now Available
Grant applications can now be submitted to the Benton County Community Foundation’s 2022 grant cycle with a deadline to submit applications by 5:00 p.m. on March 15. The online grant application can be found on the Community Foundation’s website at www.bentonccf.org. Grants are awarded to projects within the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service.
Shellsburg Public Library Movie days on scheduled Early Outs
"Movie Day" at the library on Fridays when there are scheduled early outs. Click here for flyer. (please return the bottom of this form with your child)The movie picked will be a G or PG rated. The movie will run 2:00pm to 5:00pmPlease plan to pick up your child no later than 6:00pm.Most movies will take place on the 2nd and 4th Fridays unless noted below.
Ice Fishing Tournament to be held January 15
Benton County Conservation will be holding their annual ice fishing tournament beginning at 7:30 a.m. and running until 1:00 p.m., at Hannan Lake Park. The park is located at 1949 Benton-Iowa Road, Blairstown. Those competing can begin arriving at the park at 7:00 a.m. Use the boat ramp and shop area for drop off only, but you are welcome to park in the beach parking lot.
Benton County Community Foundation to Host Grant Applicant Workshop January 6
The Benton County Community Foundation (BCCF), an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, will host a public grant applicant workshop on Thursday, January 6, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at the Van Horne Community Center, 508 1st Ave, Van Horne, IA. Benton County Historical Society to hold Monthly Meeting

The First Presbyterian Church located at 300 Main Street East in Shellsburg will hold a Blue Christmas Service on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 4:30pm.What is a Blue Christmas Service? It is a service for those who find themselves struggling to find JOY during the holidays.
